My pet feline

"Meowww..". I was at my home in Chennai, idling away on my comp. I jumped up in glee when I heard it, and rushed to open the door. I could already hear my mom protesting "adha veettukkulla vidaatha da.. appuram kutti ellam inga engeyaavathu pottudum" (Don't let it inside, it'd give birth somewhere in this home!). I didn't care.. after all, she had all her fun with 16 cats(yes, 16!) in her childhood, and I was unfairly being denied my share of fun :-). I scooped the cat in my hands and started cuddling it.


It had already given birth to four kittens, and they were in one of the nearby homes, elsewhere. It continued to meoww. Finally, my mom yielded. "Go get some milk for it", she said. There was about a cup of just-heated milk that remained, and I poured it out for the pretty feline. And I admired the little darling. It took it's tongue to the milk and immediately withdrew it, sensing that it was hot. It did this some four to five times and finally gave up. I almost laughed! The poor soul! Of course, once the milk cooled down, it started gulping it.
